V magazine launched

21/ 4/2005

A NEW free monthly magazine for discerning mature readers has been launched.

V, a Manchester Evening News publication, is aimed at over-50s who enjoy life to the full. The magazine will be distributed free each month to 20,000 households.

Editor, Diane Cooke, said: "V covers all the burning issues affecting the lives of this market sector. Health updates, sex and relationships, fashion, beauty and travel, all in a super glossy format to keep readers hooked from cover to cover."

Manchester Evening News's deputy MD, Mark Rix, added: "Consumers of this age are becoming increasingly important to marketers and advertisers due to their expanding numbers as well as their economic power.

"This group are younger in their outlook and have higher expectations of life and are also enjoying a higher degree of disposable income than previous generations.

"The opportunities for marketing to this sector appear limitless and clearly there is a valuable and growing market."

The launch edition carries an interview with Ever-Green Goddess Diana Moran and how she stays sexy at 65, plus why Julian Clary is not so contrary.
