But take a look at this CPI 50cc Supermoto machine, which made its debut at a bike show recently - a liquid-cooled, two- stroke motor, wavy disc brakes, beautiful spoked wheels, monoshock rear suspension etc.
This is a hi-tech motorcycle which any 16-year-old would be proud to own.The basic CPI Supermoto costs around £1,800, with the Ultimate model retailing around two grand.
Aprilia
Class-leading machines from Aprilia and Derbi cost around the same price, but my feeling is that once the Chinese start making Supermoto, or sports machines in large volumes - as they do with basic scooters - then prices will tumble.
You can find out more on CPI machines from their UK importer, who are based in Barnsley.
