The Veloce is the sportier version of the 140bhp Corsaro 1200 V-twin, featuring Marzocchi Magnum forks with 50mm diameter legs, a Sachs fully-adjustable rear shock and Brembo 320mm discs with four-piston calipers.
It also has neat engineering details like the solid block, alloy footrests, plus a short-throw gearshift action for a sportier feel.
I am old enough to recall the smaller V-twin Moto Morini bikes of the Seventies and I think it's great that the marque has been revived with something that looks unique, really sporty and aggressive.
It is typical of the new breed of Latin roadster-class bikes, and is a direct rival to the Aprilia Mana, Benelli TRE-K or the MV Agusta Brutale. I also think it makes the Ducati Monster look really dated.
The Veloce version of the Morini Corsaro has Termignoni stainless steel silencers, which give it both a dash of racing style and a proper V-twin growl, while meeting Euro 3 emission standards.
For owners who fancy a dabble at a track day on the Veloce, the bike is supplied with a second ECU ignition/fuelling control unit, which upgrades the performance slightly.
The Veloce, pictured, is fairly expensive, at £9,899 and I think some buyers might opt for a better known brand. But if you want something Italian, fast and gorgeous, then the Morini could be your dream ride for 2007. There's more info at motomoriniuk.com
