Citroen will begin selling its new range of C4 Picasso seven-seater people carriers early next year.
As the name suggests, the C4 Picasso will be based on the same platform as the C4 coupe and saloon. Perhaps confusingly, Citroen will continue to sell the seven-seater C4 Picasso and five-seater Xsara Picasso.
The C4 Picasso will start at around £15,000 on the road, putting it in the same territory as the VW Touran.
Citroen promise that the Xsara Picasso will be available at around the £10,000 mark until at least the end of the decade.
Until the new C4 Picasso goes on sale, the C4 range is topped by the VTS three-door Coupe, powered by a 138bhp 2-litre diesel engine, driven here.
It is priced at £15,340 on the road (including £2,750 cash back) and is available with 48 months zero per cent finance.
Attention-grabbing
And if it wasn't already attention-grabbing enough, the version I was given to drive came complete with an eye-catching yellow-gold paint job.
The diesel-powered VTS is slower to the magical 60mph mark than its petrol-powered sister. It also costs a little more.
But those who have driven the diesel will know that the additional torque it offers in the mid-range can be just as rewarding as a fast sprint from a standing start. Furthermore, you won't need to fill it up quite so often.
The VTS coupe is certainly well-equipped, with a sporty, modern interior to match the C4's funky exterior look.
I found that the driving position - you do feel a little bit of a long way from the action - took a bit of getting used to.
Citroen's pricing policy is based on discounts and deals, meaning you will almost never pay the full asking price. The deals available alter each month.
When weighing your options, ensure that you know the actual price that you'll have to pay.
Ask whether the price quoted includes cash back and other offers - and be sure to shop around.
