RHD Hummer hits the streets

H3: Hummer
H3: Hummer
CONGESTION charging, rising fuel taxes, what better time to introduce the right-hand drive HUMMER to Great Britain.

The car which owes its fame to the first Gulf War has lost a little weight and is now aiming for global dominance of the big car market.

Built in South Africa, the H3 version of HUMMER adds unique styling features to the marque's iconic shape, an all-new interior design and a 3.7-litre engine with, for the first time on a HUMMER, a choice of manual or automatic transmissions for the full-time four-wheel drive system.

Compared to the HUMMER H2, the H3 is 39mm shorter, 171mm lower and 73mm narrower.

Roughly the same length as a larger family saloon, the H3 can navigate city traffic, yet still deliver HUMMER's trademark crawling and climbing capability off-road.

It will be powered by General Motors's Vortec 3.7-litre, inline five-cylinder engine with dual overhead camshafts and variable valve timing.

In spite of rising oil prices, the H3 made its debut in North America in May 2005 and has helped make HUMMER the fastest growing motoring brand in the United States.
