Follow in The Smiths' footsteps
STEPHEN Wright, the photographer who took the legendary photograph of The Smiths stood outside Salford Lads Club, is offering fans a chance to follow in the footsteps of Morrissey, Marr, Joyce and Rourke.Wright will be at the venue on Friday, June 18 from 12pm to 2pm to photograph Smiths fans in exactly the same pose to help raise money for charity. The é5 fee for the photo will be donated to Alzheimer's Research.
Wright has also donated a signed print of the original to the Ordsall venue's Smiths room, which is due to open the same day and will contain photographs and messages from fans.
Recently, Smiths bass player Andy Rourke gave an impromptu performance alongside quirky singer-songwriter Vinny Peculiar at the Lads Club, on the same weekend as the band's former singer Morrissey played a sell-out show at the MEN Arena.
