The Salford Tramways Depot was a beautiful
relic from the founding years of public transport. The building
stood on the corner of Frederick Road and Seaford Rd. Its arched
entrance, Gothic style towers, stone carvings, and the triangular site
made it a unique and cherished landmark. It was demolished to
make way for student apartments. The architects thoughtfully
incorporated the stone arch into the new building. I was contacted
by a visitor from New York who was intrigued with old building and said
it was great we still had buildings like this. I wonder what he would
make of its replacement.
