The former Lyons Popular Cafe was an interesting though generally ignored feature on Piccadilly. Few people bothered to look above the  shop signs at the interesting facade.  The coffee house which once occupied the building closed in the post war years, along with others including the Kardomah.  In 2002 the building abruptly disappeared. It is reported that the original wood interior was ripped out and disposed of.
