The tallest tower outside London is being built at the end of Deansgate, by GMEX, the former Central Station.  This is how the site looked on the 13th of November 2004. The location is symbolic of the transformation of Manchester: Railway arches which once carried trains into the Great Northern Goods Warehouse, were demolished. They used to house car dealers Bauer Millett and before that, an ambulance station. Click here to see how they looked.
