Ensemble of city centre towers as seen from the condemned Manchester University Maths Tower.  All of the towers along the central line of view appeared in the 1960s and early seventies, but after that, high-rise construction virtually ceased. Only now, three decades later, has Manchester's climb towards an American or Australian-style skyline been resumed.
