In this 1998 view Ancoats
Hospital has been vacated, though next door to it there is a medical
centre. The red brick building with its tower and inscription exudes
Victorian values.
In 2005, Ancoats hospital is in the middle of a groundbreaking new
urban regeneration project named New Islington. What look like
lampposts are being put up along the street, now closed to traffic.
These two photos, taken seven years apart are too late for Ancoats
Hospital's original use and too early for its new one. Keep visiting
EWM to see how this scene looks in a couple of years.
