Residential roads like Clare
Road tend to show fewer signs of change than main streets. Nevertheless
there have been a few additions, most notably speed bumps and a single
lane under the bridge with priority for traffic coming from this
side. The scene obviously appears different in winter and spring,
but look how the trees on the right appear to be much smaller.
EWM says: In historic areas, I dislike intrusive signage, speed bumps,
double yellow lines and modern street lamps, as they spoil my
photographs. I accept that where road safety is concerned, there are
different priorities, but are all these intrusive elements really
necessary? Experiments have shown that motorists slow down in so-called
'naked streets' with no signs, lines or bumps.
