1285: Wythenshawe Hall Wythenshawe Hall was a gift of the Simon family to the city of Manchester - read the blue plaque. It has recently been refurbished and is now looking better than it has done for many years. Note how the timbers are allowed to weather. This is how half-timbered buildings looked when first built. It was only in the Victorian era that the wood was painted black. Camera: Agfa E-Photo

The slip road to the left takes you onto the M60 orbital motorway (formerly the M63) in the direction of Stockport. I can remember the days before the mid-seventies when Princess Road came to an end at the A560 Stockport to Altrincham Rd. Camera: Agfa E-Photo
