Viaducts, embankments and bridges are a powerful feature of the urban landscape At night, the deserted, dimly lit streets around and beneath railway lines have an eerie quality about them. The bridge in this photograph carries the main Manchester to London railway line, as well as the tracks leading off to the railway sidings at Longsight.
