771: Houses, railway line and church, Heaton Norris

Graffiti and open grass are characteristic of modern times, but beyond, we see evidence of the past. A row of red-brick terraced houses, leading onto Wellington Rd North, which passes fro left to right below the level of the houses. To the right is an old church, and behind, running parallel with Wellington Rd, the Manchester Stockport London railway line.

And beyond that is one of the few remaining factory chimneys, and a glimpse of the horizon. Take out a the grass, the graffiti the cars, and the overhead power lines, and everything in this scene dates from the 19th century.
