870: FORMER BANK OF ENGLAND building, King St Mar1999

871: PRINCESS ROAD and daffodils, Tuesday 30Mar1999

Around this time of year, daffodils are everywhere to be seen, particularly on the grassy mounds seen next to many roads around Manchester. The green and yellow road sign matches the grass and flowers. The building upper centre is connected with Hulme Renovation, a body set up to revitalise this area of Manchester. There has been a market on Tib St for decades. Nowadays, you'll find traders selling fruit and vegetables in front of the hideous multi-storey car park on Church Street, just across from Affleck's Palace (Other keywords: markets, shopping)

875: Former Stockport Corporation bus, Albert Square

This is a classic front-engined double decker bus built by Leyland in the early 1950's. This one is part of the collection of the Museum of Transport, Manchester, and was taking part in an event when I took the photo. This bus brings back many childhood memories. 876: NEW STAGECOACH BUS TICKET Mar1999

Ticket machines tend to move with the times. Here we see the latest type - produced using thermal printing, as used in fax machines. Unfortunately, passengers were surprised to find that the print reacted with the adhesive used on the Megarider ticket's transparent plastic covering, making the print disappear! This ticket cost 90p and is an adult single from Victoria Park to the city centre on the 50 bus (Keywords: public transport, tickets, bus fares)

877: MANCHESTER CROWN COURT, Crown Square Feb1999

This unassuming building has been the venue for many high-profile trials over the past couple of years. Like all court buildings in the UK, there is a large coat of arms on the outside of the building. (Other keywords: legal, judge, courts)

878: TOWN HALL AND 1950'S Feb1999

In the 50's, 60's and 70's, hundreds of these buses were operated by Manchester Corporation. The red and cream livery constrasted with the green of Salford and the blue of Ashton. These buses had been hired to take carry wedding guests - a couple were getting married at the Town Hall. The two buses are of slightly different design. They can be seen at the Museum of Transport, Manchester (Other keywords: history, buses, public transport)
