ARTISAN Ship Canal Developments continues to breathe new life into Ancoats with its successful Eastside Valley Scheme.

The £100m project, to create a bustling new community in one of Manchester’s most historic districts, has now reached the fifth of seven planned stages.

And of the 108 properties in phase five, more than a third have been sold off-plan in little more than a month.

Building of the phase, comprising 79 apartments and 29 townhouses, is scheduled to start in July with completion in late 2008.

Artisan Ship Canal Developments is a pioneering property joint venture between property group Artisan and Manchester Ship Canal Developments, comprising Peel Holdings and Manchester City Council.

This site forms part of the £100m Lower Eastside Valley development, and the 6.7acre Eastside development is a gateway to the whole of New East Manchester and key to the regeneration of the entire area.

Occupied

Construction of previous residential phases of Eastside Valley, totalling 385 homes, is complete with many of those apartments now occupied.

Upon completion, the seven phases of the scheme will provide more than 600 new homes, offices, shops and public spaces. Extensive landscaping has been undertaken to provide residents and workers with safe, attractive and useable outside areas. Jason Millett, deputy chief executive of Artisan, says: “The outstanding ongoing sales success of this ambitious project proves that provision of the right properties in the right locations remains as popular as ever.

“The balanced mix of apartments and townhouses clearly addresses market needs and means increasing numbers of people are sharing our vision of breathing new life into the heart of Ancoats.”

James Whittaker, Development Director at Peel Holdings, adds: “ASCD are committed to investing and delivering major development schemes as part of New East Manchester regeneration plans for Ancoats.

“The partnership approach between the public and private sector has worked extremely well and it is our intention to develop the remaining three phases over the next five years.”
