A FORMER bingo hall site in Harpurhey, north Manchester is set to hit the property jackpot.
Once the home of Gala Bingo, the site, on Rochdale Road, which has permission for 29 apartments in a four-storey block and 10 three-storey townhouses, has just gone on the market with an undisclosed price tag.
Jim Higgins, is senior surveyor at Knight Frank, in Manchester, who are selling the land, is confident there will be big demand from developers keen to get involved in the regeneration of the area.
He said: “The area is benefiting from significant investment and this is a great opportunity for developers to create good quality homes in an up and coming area.
“Rochdale Road is a prime site in north Manchester and we are seeing money being spent on existing housing stock and the local retail centre.”
There is an application in for another seven townhouses on the former Beech Mount clinic site next door.
Locations in the ‘donut ring’ around Manchester city centre have been tipped as major growth areas for the next 12 months and Higgins is forecasting that ongoing inward investment will continue to drive demand for housing and will establish the area as an affordable and realistic option for professionals and families alike.
Best Bids for the site have to be in before Thursday, June 28th, to Knight Frank who are selling on behalf of Tower Gate Developments.
