FORGET laundry rooms or wet rooms, the new trendy must-have is the home cinema. Maybe it's the long dark evenings or possibly the January sales but suddenly everyone wants plasma screens, surround sound and a TV the size of a blackboard.

But how do you accommodate all this technology into your living room?

If you have the space and the cash Neville Johnson will build you an entire room of bespoke furniture so you can view in comfort and either hide away or show off your latest hi-tech toys.

Their recently-revamped Wilmslow showroom has two home cinema room sets for you to try out. Managing director Tony Barry said: "Over the past two years we have seen a big rise in customers wanting home cinema areas."

Their style is more traditional but if you want cutting edge modern go to Stephen Johnson in Salford and he will fashion something clean and simple to hide all the wires and speakers.

If you cannot afford to devote a whole room to the TV then you have to hit the high street for a table that will house not only the set but also the DVD player, and preferably the DVDs and speakers, without cramping your own style.

Ocean has some good simple pieces at their store in the Triangle, Manchester, while Deansgate-based New Heights is also worth a look.

And if you are such an addict you can't afford to miss a moment of the movie then Magnet is currently offering a free flip-down TV and DVD if you spend more than £4,500 on one of their kitchens.
