Then and Now: Exchange Square
 Hanging Ditch from Corporation Street in 1900In fact, the bright new development, renowned for attracting top stores like Selfridges, is typical of the pulling power and multi-million-pound investment that endows the area with an enduring feeling of prosperity.  Today's Exchange Square looking towards SelfridgesAlthough most of the cosy Edwardian interior of the Corn Exchange has been lost, shoppers now have a rich array of choice.
The archive photograph is part of a collection chronicling the changing face of Manchester during the past 250 years. The collection comprises more than 77,000 images on a computer at Manchester Central Library.
