MANCHESTER United star Wayne Rooney and his fianc'e Coleen McLoughlin escaped unhurt from a motorway collision.

The striker's silver Range Rover was involved in the crash with another vehicle at 9.30am on Saturday near roadworks at Junction 7 of the M60 at Sale.

No one was injured in the accident which happened as Rooney was driving to training.

Police attended the scene and the couple's damaged vehicle was removed.

Collision

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "A minor collision took place and those motorists involved then exchanged details.

"Mr Rooney was collected from the motorway by another driver.

"His own vehicle was later collected from the motorway. We were only involved with the incident because it occurred on the motorway and a vehicle subsequently had to be recovered."

Despite the crash, Rooney was fit enough to play in yesterday's cup match against Wolves.

Earlier this month Rooney took a driving awareness course after a prang while he was driving his BMW X5 last year.
