WaX Factor for Shayne

29/ 4/2006

POP star Shayne Ward will seal his place in music history when his wax figure is unveiled at Madame Tussauds on Monday.

The 21-year-old X Factor winner is the first reality TV star to have his likeness put on show at the world famous waxworks in London.

Former Manchester Arndale shop assistant Shayne, from Clayton, has donated a Gucci suit and shoes for the exhibition. He took a break from his hectic schedule this month to be measured up.

A spokesman for Madame Tussauds said the attraction had been "inundated" with requests from young visitors to include Shayne in the exhibition since his first single shot to number one in the charts.

A plasma screen will be placed behind his wax figure and he will give visitors tips on how to be a pop star via a series of pre-recorded films.

However, fans in Manchester are getting ready to see the singer for real in his home city when he appears at the M.E.N. Arena. They have been snapping up tickets for the three shows, which will be held in February next year, as part of his first live concert tour.

Shayne said: "Before X Factor I had only been to the Arena a few times - to see Manchester Storm ice hockey team and I also went with my sister to see a Westlife concert.

"I never for a minute imagined I would be appearing on that stage in my own right - it is truly amazing."

Shayne's debut album has rocketed to the top of the charts. His debut single, That's My Goal, went on to become the biggest seller of 2005.

Offensive or Inappropriate?

It should outlast his career.. it is a stunning likeness even down to it's lack of animation. A triumph !! To suggest it is a publicity stunt would be insane ; )
