Chesterfield 1 Oldham 1

Fred Austin

OLDHAM stretched their unbeaten league run to five points with a hard earned point at inform Chesterfield.

They went in front three minutes after the break when Paul Warne raced onto an Andy Liddell cross to fire in his eighth goal of the season from 14 yards.

But Chesterfield, having their best season for many years and beaten just once in nine games bounced back to equalise in the 68th minute.

The Latics were again caught out at a set piece when veteran striker Wayne Allison headed home a corner for his 199th career goal.

Oldham had started brightly with both Luke Beckett and Warne going close in the opening three minutes.

But it was keeper Chris Day who finished the first half as the busier keeper.

He kept out a shot from Colin Larkin on the half hour and repeated the heroics to again deny the same player three minutes before the interval.

Oldham had a chance to re-take the lead in the 78th minute but the normally reliable Beckett could only direct his shot over the bar.

It made for a frenetic finish and the Latics had to endure a nerve wracking four minutes of time added on as the home side went all out for the winner.
