Bradford 1 Oldham 4

OLDHAM bounced back into the play-off chase with a fifth win in six games.

A well-deserved victory wiped out the memory of a shock defeat at relegation threatened Rotherham four days earlier.

The Latics produced their best opening half of the season to stun Bradford with a three-goal blast.

Ronnie Moore's battlers took the lead after 15 minutes.

Ritchie Wellens had a shot spilled by the keeper and Paul Warne lost no time scoring his tenth goal of the season.

A second strike two minutes later was also set up by the busy Wellens.

He turned the home side's defence inside out before Luke Beckett fired home with a superb finish.

Latics grabbed a third in the 34th minute when Wellens was again the inspiration for Richard Butcher to lash in his second goal in three games.

Mid-table Bradford pulled a goal back four minutes into the second half.

A cross into the box was poorly defended and Aaron Wilbraham, who had a loan spell at Boundary Park last season, was left with a simple, close range header.

But the contest was settled nine minutes from the end when Beckett raced 50 yards before beating the keeper and slipping the ball into an empty net for his 10th goal in 15 games to complete the Latics' biggest league win of the season.

It also equalled their record breaking win at Valley Parade back in 1938.

Great win! What a way to bounce back after the disappointment at Rotherham. The heat is on. With 5 home games and just 3 away we just need to hold our nerve and we will be at least in the play-offs.
