Coleen reveals Wayne's secret love - lettuce

LETTUCE LOVER: Wayne Rooney
LETTUCE LOVER: Wayne Rooney
Coleen McLoughlin has revealed the diet secrets of her fiance Wayne Rooney.

The footballer's favourite food is not burgers, sausages or chips - it's lettuce.

"They all think Wayne's a big fat person and eats burgers every day, which he's not, and I don't know where they get it from," she protests.

"It does my head in because people really believe that. His favourite food is lettuce. He loves salad."

Coleen, 19, lifts the lid on life with the England and Manchester United star in the documentary Coleen's Secrets, to be screened on Five this Sunday.

In the programme she takes viewers on a tour of Croxteth, Liverpool, and the chip shop where they had their first date.

The couple now live a millionaire's lifestyle but Coleen insists she does not deserve her "shopaholic" tag.

"People just think I go out with this footballer and I go out shopping every day - which I don't. It's only my family and friends that know me.

"I've got my own money - I don't spend Wayne's money. That's what people don't realise. Someone said in a column to go and get a job. That does my head in. They've got to accept me for who I am."

Columnist

Coleen currently writes a weekly magazine column of her own and is about to release a fitness DVD.

In the documentary she talks about her ambitions and says one day she may go back to college to complete her education.

"When I was younger I wanted to work in the sweetshop next door to my house and work the till. Then I wanted to be a teacher, and then an actress or dancer, and as I got older I thought, no, that's not going to happen.

"Now I always keep thinking I'm going to go back to college but I'm only 19 and I've got years ahead of me, so I'll see what comes my way and focus on it when I've got it," she says.

In the programme, viewers will see her getting ready for a girls' night out with a group of friends, and travelling to Milan in search of the perfect outfit to wear on the red carpet at this year's National TV Awards.

:: Coleen's Secrets is on Five on Sunday December 11 at 8pm.
