Celebrity BB: Jodie leaves the house

Jodie Marsh
Jodie Marsh
GLAMOUR model Jodie Marsh tonight lived up to bookmakers' predictions to become the first celebrity to be booted out of the Big Brother house.

The 27-year-old, who has complained of being bullied by her fellow housemates during her time on the show, was up against MP George Galloway and singer Pete Burns in the public vote.

On hearing the news that she was to be the first to leave the house, she smiled and said "thank you".

Marsh hugged fake celebrity and fellow Essex girl Chantelle and singer Preston.

Wearing a pink backless, off-the-shoulder top, Marsh stepped out of the house to a mixed reaction.

The eviction came as no surprise - bookmakers William Hill had said she was a "dead cert" to be the first celebrity to be kicked out of the house.

Speaking to presenter Davina McCall, Marsh described her time in the house as "hideous" and said she was pleased to be out.

She said she did not think she had been successful in changing her public image because she had got so much stick from the other housemates.

Miserable

"The whole time I was there I was miserable or defending myself. I was getting it from every angle. I do not think the true me has been shown."

For the past couple of days Marsh cut a lonely figure in the house as the other contestants kept their distance from her.

In her post-eviction interview Marsh laid into her fellow housemates saying: "I got shouted at so many times in that house you cannot even hear it in the end."

A tearful Marsh added: "There are a few people I definitely want to see again and I definitely will see again."

Asked what the experience had taught her about herself, she said: "That I do not get on with people that pretend they are not transvestites when they really are, that I do not get on with people who tell me I need psychiatric help when really they do."

Referring to shamed entertainer Michael Barrymore, who was one of her harshest critics, she said: "The first time we ever had a serious chat was when he told me to leave the country.

"He got on my case more than anyone has got on my case in my life."

She said she had tried to talk to him about their mutual interest in dogs but he insisted on focussing on "all the negative stuff".

"I think he needs help," she said.

Of singer Pete Burns, she said: "He is the most hideous thing I have ever met. I wasn't sure how much longer I could sit and look at him for.

"I defy anyone to be in there with him for three weeks and not want to kill themselves and him. He is just not my cup of tea."

Praise

She described Faria Alam as a "top bird" but reserved her greatest praise for fake celebrity Chantelle.

"I want Chantelle to win. The fact a non-celebrity can win Celebrity Big Brother, that's what I want to happen."

She vowed never to repeat the experience. "I'd never do it again. Not in a million years."

Yesterday Marsh's parents said their daughter was facing the same bullying ordeal she had endured at school.

Kristina and John Marsh said it became increasingly difficult to watch their daughter in the house after she was reduced to tears by nasty comments from Galloway, Burns and Barrymore.

Marsh has said she was bullied so badly at school in Brentwood, Essex, that she contemplated suicide.

Hills spokesman Rupert Adams said the betting firm, which usually offers odds on housemates' post-eviction careers, said they could not think of a creditable alternative for Jodie other than continuing as a glamour model.
