Celebrity BB: Eviction countdown is on

FAVOURITE TO WIN: Chantelle
FAVOURITE TO WIN: Chantelle
SPECULATION over the next celebrity to be evicted from the Big Brother house will start again, with round two of nominations to be announced today.

Veteran entertainer Sir Jimmy Savile took contestants' minds off the impending vote yesterday by pledging to grant wishes for some of them - more than 30 years after Jim'll Fix It first took to TV screens.

The 79-year-old revisited the Big Brother house after housemates sent him handwritten letters with their own special wishes.

He revealed that although he had been sent five-and-a-half million letters since the show began in 1975, these were some of the best "with not one spelling mistake".

Among the celebrities' wishes were requests to go to the Oscars (George Galloway), to try an aircraft simulator (Michael Barrymore) and to become a pop star (Chantelle).

Preston

Preston asked to appear in an episode of EastEnders, while Peter wanted to spend time with his boyfriend. Traci Bingham asked for something "private" to be fixed.

Everyone benefited from Rula Lenska's desire to "provide pleasure" when they were given Sir Jimmy goodie bags with mugs, badges as well as an outfit, wig and jewellery.

He promised to fix some of the wishes once the housemates had left the house, while he provided a pampering kit, video message and CD in response to others.

Outside the house, celebrity civilian Chantelle became the bookies' favourite to emerge victorious.

Her odds have shortened from a 16/1 outsider to 13/8 hot favourite as gamblers wagered increasingly large amounts of money on her blonde ambition.

Rupert Adams, of William Hill, said one bet of £4,000 was made on the Paris Hilton lookalike.

"The money suggests that punters have finally had enough of so-called celebrities and they are backing Chantelle," he said.

Preston was second favourite at 2/1, followed by Maggot at 5/1 and Michael Barrymore and Pete Burns who were both at 10/1.
