Celebrity BB: Bez speaks out

LAST YEAR'S WINNER: Bez
LAST YEAR'S WINNER: Bez
YOU can count on Madchester music legend Bez to tell it like it is. And the Happy Mondays freaky dancer has been typically forthright when giving his verdict on the current crop of stars hoping to take his winner's crown on this year's Celebrity Big Brother.

"I'm really glad I'm not on this year's show," he says. "I can't stand that Pete Burns, wearing next to nothing - if that was a girl I'd be asking her to cover up, it's something I don't really want to have to see on TV. I don't think this year's show has been that entertaining, either."

Despite his decidely lukewarm feelings about the show, Bez tells me he's looking forward to attending a VIP party in Manchester, on Friday, to watch the final.

From this year's line-up, his favourite was now evicted actress Rula Lenska (because she's a redhead, like his "missus"), but now he wants either Preston, lead singer with The Ordinary Boys, or Maggot, singer with rap band Goldie Lookin Chain, to win his title.

Tax bill

He happily admits the only reason he agreed to appear on last year's show was to pay off his tax bill - but he has no regrets - and hasn't ruled out appearing on other reality shows in future.

"I'm really glad I did it, I got a massive tax bill paid off, which was a great help for me and my family, so it was even better to then go and win it.

"But, in a few years time there will have been nine million Big Brother contestants - it's no big deal any more to have been on it.

"That's what makes me laugh about this year, in a funny sort of way it would be good if Chantelle (the only non-celebrity) won it, because it shows what the show is about; it's about a lot of rubbish.

"In a funny sort of way, I don't want a celebrity to win."

Who do want to win? Let us know your thoughts.
