Celebrity BB: Chantelle tipped to win

SET TO WIN?: Chantelle
SET TO WIN?: Chantelle
THE remaining Big Brother celebrities are spending their final day in the house as viewers cast their votes for the winner ahead of tonight's finale.

Chantelle is 1/4 favourite to win, according to Ladbrokes.

Michael and Preston are the only two of the six remaining housemates who have not faced eviction during the series.

The housemates enjoyed a relatively quiet pool party overnight. Outside, the media spotlight remained on George Galloway's first day outside the house.

The Respect MP yesterday insisted he had done "nothing undignified" during his time on the reality show - despite dressing up in a leotard and pretending to be a cat.

But restoring his political credibility will be an uphill struggle.

Activists

Labour activists poked fun at Galloway by delivering cat food to his home and party office in east London.

Three girls dressed in cat masks pulled up outside his house in Cheshire Street in a car with Tom Jones hit What's New Pussycat? blaring from the stereo.

They then drove to the Respect headquarters in nearby Club Row to deliver 96 tins of Whiskas.

The stunt was organised by the Tower Hamlets branch of the Labour Party.

Galloway's parliamentary assistant, Rob Hoveman, branded it a "sad little stunt".

The 51-year-old MP embarked on a day of media interviews in a bid to restore his reputation.

He dismissed condemnation of his antics in the Channel 4 show as "sanctimonious humbug" and said the criticism was "out of all proportion".

The level of interest in his Big Brother appearance was "astonishing", he said.

"This is a celebrity reality show and yet it's getting more coverage than Lib Dem leaders falling out of the closet," he told Channel 4's Richard and Judy programme.

Hurry

Galloway said he was in no hurry to return to the House of Commons.

MPs have promised a chorus of miaows when he tries to make a speech.

"I will be in the House when I think it's the right place to be," he said, denying he was nervous about facing his Parliamentary foes.

In an interview with Jeremy Vine on BBC Radio he said of his leotard moment: "I'm not sure how that can remotely be described as shameful.

"I did nothing and said nothing of which I'm ashamed in the Big Brother house.

"I may have done one or two things I'm slightly embarrassed about but that is a very different thing from being ashamed."

Following his eviction, bookies William Hill are offering 6/1 odds that he will resign as an MP before the end of the year and 10/1 that he resigns before Sunday night.

Galloway's exit was watched by 6.5 million viewers - the show's biggest audience since launch night.

His exit was watched by 26 per cent of TV viewers.
