Locklear files for divorce

ACTRESS Heather Locklear has filed for divorce from her rocker husband Richie Sambora.

But it seemed the Bon Jovi lead guitarist had not been told of her intentions when the news was announced last night.

More than an hour after the former Dynasty star's publicist let the media know that the 11-year marriage was over, Sambora reportedly told ABC News Radio things were fine at home.

"It's completely untrue," he insisted, adding that he had Valentine's Day plans with his wife.

The musician has been touring recently and was speaking before a show.

"After 11 years of marriage, Heather Locklear has filed for divorce from Richie Sambora," the 44-year-old's publicist Cece Yorke said.

"This is a private matter and there will be no further comment at this time."

Locklear, who was previously married to Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee, first found fame in 1981 as sexy Sammy Jo Dean Carrington in Dynasty.

In the 1990s, she appeared in Melrose Place and Spin City.

The couple were married in 1994 and have an eight-year-old daughter, Ava Elizabeth.

People magazine reported that in paperwork filed at Los Angeles County Superior Court, Locklear cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split.
