Bond producers deny Tube shooting claim

NEW 007: Daniel Craig
NEW 007: Daniel Craig
THE producers of the new James Bond film have denied reports that the plot mirrors the killing of a Brazilian man shot dead in London after being mistaken for a terrorist.

The family of Jean Charles de Menezes were said to be shocked at reports that a scene in Casino Royale sees 007 kill an unarmed bomb suspect, only to find it was the wrong man.

Bond reportedly tries to clear his name after CCTV footage of the death is broadcast worldwide.

Menezes, 27, was killed in a police operation at Stockwell Underground station in London last July.

Producers Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli - the daughter of legendary Bond producer Cubbi - denied the similarities.

Casino Royale

In a statement they said: "We categorically deny reports that the script of Casino Royale bears any resemblance to the tragic death of the innocent Brazilian citizen Mr Jean Charles de Menezes.

"In the script of Casino Royale James Bond does not kill any innocent people."

The film, starring British actor Daniel Craig, is currently being made on location in Prague.

Asad Rehman, spokesman for the de Menezes family, had said earlier today that the family was deeply concerned about the issue being trivialised.
