Galloway lands DJ slot

NEW ROLE: George Galloway
NEW ROLE: George Galloway
MP George Galloway has signed up to host a weekly radio show.

The Respect MP, who came under fire for taking part in Celebrity Big Brother, will be presenting a current affairs phone-in.

The representative for Bethnal Green and Bow will be the new host of talkSPORT's weekend evening show.

Viewers will be invited to tackle political and non-political topics during the two-hour current affairs programme.

Galloway, who was ridiculed for pretending to be a cat and performing a robot dance in a leotard on Celebrity Big Brother, has been touring the country with what he calls the "Mother of All One Man Shows".

Politics

He said: "Most politicians - and most politics - are boring. I don't think even my worst enemy could call me that."

The politician, who was expelled from the Labour party in 2003, said: "I intend to make this the most talked-about talk show on radio - and I think I have a pretty good track record of stimulating debate."

Programme Director Bill Ridley said: "We are delighted to have George on our team.

"He's a natural broadcaster. We like our presenters to have strong opinions and they don't come much stronger than George Galloway.

"I can't wait for him to start. To coin a phrase, it promises to be the Mother of All One Man Shows."

The show will go out from 8 to 10pm on Saturday and Sunday nights starting on March 11.

Other non-sports broadcasters on national commercial speech radio station talkSPORT include James Whale, Mike Dickin and Ian Collins.
