Evil Trevor tops soap deaths poll

VIEWERS have named the most dramatic - and the most tear-jerking - soap deaths.

The body-under-the-patio murder of Brookside's evil Trevor Jordache topped the drama league.

Most emotional death was the passing of EastEnders' Ethel Skinner, who asked best friend Dot to help her end her life in a controversial euthanasia storyline.

The Radio Times polled 4,000 readers on the most memorable deaths in soap.

Wife-beater Trevor Jordache met his gruesome end in 1993 when wife Mandy snapped after years of abuse and stabbed him in front of daughter Beth.

The pair buried the body under the patio - only for it to be discovered three years later.

Second most dramatic death was serial killer Richard Hillman driving his car into the canal in Coronation Street.

EastEnders

Third was Steve Owen in EastEnders, trapped in his blazing car as Phil Mitchell looked on.

The Emmerdale plane crash which killed off half the cast was fourth - but also made it into a roll-call of the most ridiculous soap deaths.

That list was topped by Corrie's Anne Malone getting locked in a Freshco freezer.

Three of the most ridiculous deaths were from EastEnders - Janine Butcher pushing Barry Evans off a cliff, Cindy Beale dying in prison during childbirth and Den Watts getting bumped off by a hitman in a canalside shooting only to turn up again.

Other emotional deaths include EastEnders' Jamie Mitchell dying on Christmas Day after a car crash, Alma Halliwell succumbing to cancer in Coronation street and Dennis Rickman stabbed to death on New Year's Eve in Albert Square.
