Pearce: No panic buys

31/ 8/2005

CITY boss Stuart Pearce is waiting on one final offer ahead of the transfer deadline.

But if that falls through, the Blues boss has backed his current squad to maintain their strongs start in the Barclays Premiership.

"We're waiting on an offer we put in on Thursday, we're waiting to hear about that today," Pearce told City's official website.

"Hopefully, that will go through, if it doesn't we'll run with what we've got.

"I've got confidence in the squad I've got. I've said it all summer, but we need extra bodies here.

"I spoke with the chairman on Sunday, and I said to them that if they're not the right people and I don't feel like I've done enough work on the players I won't bring them in. It's as simple as that."

Can City's squad cope without new faces? Have your say.

DAMNE that we missed out on so many brilliant and yet very cheap priced or totaly free loanplayers. DAMNE all the teams that took all these players right from under our noses. DAMNE all those players who snubbed us for all the clubs they ended up with in the (near) end. DAMNE all those managers who are so very experienced compare to our totaly unexperienced SP, that they waited so long for signing any avaible player just before the deadline. DAMNE all those chairmen who are willing to invest huge transfersums and salarydemands instead of our pack-back-my-loan-at-last chairman. DAMNE of these young players that we have and are or look very promising, and they held up any possible transfertargets. DAMNE the UEFA, as it is not possible to do any responsible and sensible bussiness in this transfermarket with a deadline. And finally DAMNE the current squad and SP (again) for having a twelve match unbeaten run and 2nd place ranking, as it took the drive out of the club to get any player in and left us fans with something to moan about. DAMNE ...
