Rumour mill: Magpies eye Ruud swoop

16/ 3/2006

NEWCASTLE are reportedly interested in signing Reds striker Ruud van Nistelrooy.

The Dutch striker, the joint top scorer in the Premiership this season with 19, has been dropped by Sir Alex Ferguson for the last three games in favour of Louis Saha.

That has led to speculation over Van Nisterlooy's future, and the Daily Telegraph report that the Magpies are "monitoring" the situation.

Newcastle are searching for a successor to Alan Shearer, who plans to retire at the end of the season, and rumours persist that his fellow Newcastle striker Michael Owen could still be tempted by a move back to Liverpool.

Should United cash in on Van Nistelrooy? Have your say.

If Ruud Van Nistelrooy doesn't start producing goals for the rest of this season then I think we will have to sell and buy another good player like ballack of Bayern Munich so fergie up the cash for Ballack and let ruud go .

Offensive or Inappropriate?

Steve Glossop, by the way, the reason that Eagles or Jones or Jones or the others aren't back at OT fighting for a midfield place is that most loan deals don't have recall clauses any more. Some of the deals were for the full season and were arranged before we lost Keano and Scholes and Fortune. I'm surprised that we let Eagles and Miller be shipped out again in January though.
