Bold venture aimed at explaining how cities work through their buildings. There is a stimulating programme of exhibitions and the Royal Institute of Architect's bookshop. The building itself is a splendid example of how Manchester's former textile warehouses can be converted. This was the work of local architects Stephen Hodder and was superbly handled, assured and simple, in no way dominating the exhibits. The elegant space perfectly demonstrates the lessons CUBE would have us learn.
