Manchester Evening News: 30p tabloid (10p on Fridays with a good weekend events section 'Go').  Local news, gossip, sport, arts, business, features, TV guide, etc.

Manchester Evening News Metro: free weekly tabloid delivered to homes and businesses in South Manchester, with local news, gossip, arts and entertainment.

Metro: free daily paper available on buses, railways etc...

Others: most of Manchester's satellite towns have their own papers (e.g. Bolton Evening News; Oldham Chronicle) which are either daily, bi-weekly or weekly.  Most cover local news, sport and business.  There are also a variety of free local papers.

Magazines

City Life: published weekly on Wednesday, this is Greater Manchester's essential 'what's on' magazine, providing a comprehensive critique of Manchester's cultural scene.  At £1.50 it is the magazine to buy if you are visiting, or are new to the area, and want to know about the best restaurants, films, plays, clubs, gigs, museums etc.

Key 103: 103 FM - chart music for the devoted pop fan.

Galaxy 102: 102FM - all styles of modern dance and chart music.

Jazz FM: 100.4FM - broadcasting throughout the north west, the evenings and weekends see specialist jazz programmes.

GMR: 95.1FM - the local BBC station for news, magazines, documentaries, ethnic programmes and local sport.
