Public holidaysIn England, public holidays are known as Bank Holidays. These are no longer observed by shops. Most larger stores would like to open 365 days a year but they are legally obliged to close on Christmas Day and Easter Sunday. Most shops are also restricted to trading for only six hours on a Sunday. Public transport is also less frequent on Bank Holidays.
