Volunteer run attraction which, for a very modest price, allows you to take a journey in a steam train, or sometimes a veteran diesel, the eight miles or so up to Rawtenstall and back.  During the journey you can partake of refreshment in the little buffet bar.  The journey is a pleasant one with the Irwell valley narrowing and the hills and moors pressing in.  You can take a bicycle on the train for free.  Special events include Santa Specials, Thomas the Tank Engine days, and drive-an-engine-yourself sessions.  The East Lancs affords good opportunities to visit several of the Irwell Valley Sculptures.

Toilets, baby changing, food and drink, shop, group and school visits, disabled access, guided tours, events.
