United football schools extended

SUMMER holiday soccer schools run by Manchester United are to be extended this year.

Five-day camps for children aged 10 to 16 will be held at Clifton College in Bristol throughout the summer holidays.

Those taking part will board at Clifton and will work under Manchester United coaches on courses being co-ordinated by Gloucestershire county cricket captain Tony Wright.

He said: "Children who take part in the camps will be taught to improve their football skills and enjoy the game, and they'll learn about communication, self-discipline, fair play and sportsmanship."

The holiday includes a trip to United's Old Trafford home for a behind the scenes tour of the stadium and a taste of the lifestyle of young professional footballers.

Clifton College is also running netball camps under the leadership of former England netball international Tracey Neville, while hockey camps are led by Brett Garrard, the current Great Britain captain.

Clifton is running a week-long cricket camp during the Easter holidays. This camp will be headed by Tony Wright.
