Monarch to fly to the Canaries

BUDGET airline Monarch is to launch new services to the Canary Islands this summer, it was announced today.

In May, Monarch will start flights to Lanzarote from Gatwick and Birmingham airports.

This will mean that Monarch will operate more flights to the Canaries this summer than any other low-cost carrier.

Also, Monarch is increasing to four the number of flights a week between Birmingham and the Spanish island of Minorca.

Meanwhile, all-business class airline MAXjet Airways, has postponed its new Stansted-Washington DC service from March 15 to April 4.

The company added that it now intended to operate five flights a week on the new service instead of four as previously announced. Return fares will start at £999, with an introductory £599 fare for tickets purchased by April 3.

Australian carrier Qantas has announced it is offering London-Melbourne return fares from £505, with prices of £628 for travellers flying on from Melbourne to the New Zealand cities of Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington.

The fares are for flights between April 16 and June 30.
