AROUND 22% of people plan to book last-minute summer holidays, according to a new survey.
These 11th-hour holidaymakers intend to spend an average of £969 on buying the breaks, a survey from Sainsbury's Bank showed.
They also plan to take an average of £623.80 in foreign currency and travellers cheques with them.

Around 2% intend to spend more than £2,000 purchasing a late break. Londoners are the most likely to go for a last-minute booking with people in Northern Ireland the least likely.

The survey also showed that around 8% of the late bookers will probably not be covered by insurance.
Sainsbury's Bank travel insurance manager Robert O'May said "It can often be a rush when booking a last-minute holiday and this can increase the chances of forgetting to take out insurance.
"It can also mean that you don't spend enough time shopping around for a competitive travel money service and, for example, needlessly pay commission on your holiday money. You could be wasting a lot of money by not shopping around for insurance and currency.
"Worryingly, people are not just adding to the cost of their trips - if disaster strikes and they are not insured, the true cost could end up being much more than the holiday itself."
