HOLIDAY-MAKERS are choosing not to go loco in Acapulco, and are turning towards the Scottish town of Ayr, according to a survey of travel trend.
The resort in the west of Scotland is set to be one of the world's top 10 "hot" destinations next year, the survey from the TripAdvisor company showed.
In contrast, Acapulco in Mexico is losing its lustre, as are Miami and Honolulu, the TripAdvisor survey said.

The company said Ayr "can brace itself for a major influx of visitors from around the world next year".
Based on responses from around 4,000 travellers globally and looking at trends for next year, the survey showed:
Britons are less likely to go on an adventure holiday than travellers from elsewhere.
Britons were also less keen on cycling, hiking, sailing, ski-ing or golf holidays.
Low-fare carrier Ryanair was voted the world's least favourite airline by UK and by worldwide travellers.
Heathrow in west London was voted the least favourite airport, with Changi in Singapore considered the best.
Only 2% of Britons, compared with the international average of 4%, said they would do something illegal on a trip that they would not do at home.
But 24% of Britons, compared with the international average of 20%, admitted taking something from a hotel room.
While 70% of travellers worldwide took all their holiday entitlement last year, the figure for Britons was 85%.
Britons are less likely to check work emails or voicemails while away than other travellers.
44% of all travellers said the threat of terrorism was an important factor in choosing a destination.
6% of travellers were asked on a date or started a romantic relationship with a perfect stranger on a flight, compared with 4% last year.
