Barcelona voted best break destination

BARCELONA is the number one city for a family short break, according to a survey of UK parents.

The Spanish city pipped London to the title in a poll on family travel website takethefamily.com.

Dublin came third, followed by Paris and Rome, with Amsterdam coming in sixth. More than 800 parents took part in the poll.

Takethefamily.com managing director Lucy Ace said: "More and more families are enjoying short city breaks.

"City hotels are increasingly offering family packages with inter-connecting rooms, kids menus as well as free entry to museums, zoos and other family-focused activities and events.

"It seems that parents and kids simply couldn't get enough of Barcelona.

"It is a wonderful family destination."

Top cities for UK parents were:

1. Barcelona 23%

2. London 22%

3. Dublin 15%

4. Rome 14%

5. Paris 14%

6. Amsterdam 12%
