Secrets of hotel's lost and found

ITEMS ranging from false teeth to a pair of glasses once owned by Sir Elton John were left in hotel rooms during 2006, it has been revealed.

A dossier belonging to a spy, a pet dog and a £19,000 racing bike were also mislaid at Travelodge hotels last year.

The Sir Elton John spectacles were in two briefcases containing collectable glasses from famous people.

Further unusual items left behind included keys to Porsche and Aston Martin cars, a diamond ring belonging to a former footballer and a hollowed-out Bible containing £250 cash.

The most common mislaid items were mobile phones and chargers, followed by toiletries and clothing items.

Other regularly-left belongings included false teeth and limbs, laptops and sex toys.

Travelodge chief operating officer Guy Parsons said: "Each year our lost and found departments provide plenty of revelations. From racing bikes to Aston Martin car keys, our guests' left-behinds demonstrate what a cross-section of customers we serve.

"Whether they are making a quick stopover in one of our city hotels or a long weekend in the country, the property left behind could tell a million tales."
